Chair yoga

Chair yoga is a form of yoga that adapts traditional poses so they can be performed while sitting on a chair or using a chair for support. It is especially beneficial for people with limited mobility, seniors, office workers, or anyone looking for a low-impact way to stay active and mindful.

Note this is an evening class.

Benefits of Chair Yoga

  1. Accessibility: Makes yoga inclusive for those who may not be able to practice on the floor.
  2. Improved Flexibility: Gentle stretches help loosen muscles and joints.
  3. Strength & Balance: Builds core and leg strength while enhancing stability.
  4. Stress Relief: Incorporates mindful breathing and relaxation techniques.
  5. Convenience: Can be practiced at home, in the office, or even while traveling.

Common Chair Yoga Poses

  • Seated Mountain Pose: Sitting tall with feet flat on the ground, spine straight, shoulders relaxed, and hands resting on thighs.
  • Seated Forward Bend: Folding forward from the hips to stretch the back and hamstrings.
  • Seated Cat-Cow Stretch: Arching and rounding the spine to increase mobility.
  • Seated Twist: Rotating gently to each side to stretch the spine and improve digestion.
  • Seated Leg Extensions: Lifting one leg at a time to strengthen thighs and improve circulation.
